Thinking Outside of the Box

When one of our customers came in a few weeks ago looking for some yarn to use for wall art in his house, I was intrigued but couldn't quite wrap my head around what he was describing.  Lucky for us, he sent a picture of the finished product -- definitely one of the coolest DIY art installations I've ever seen!

I like it! Could play about with colours or even add beads. It looks great, very striking!

wow! that is fantastic - i want to do it too now!
Isn't it funny how these things go in and out of fashion - i remember thinking string art was so naff but seeing it again lately i think it's cool - what's next to come back? sequin art?!!!!

I know, right? That explains my recent obsession with crocheted granny squares!

What would be the best way to layout a design like this? A makeshift compass and trace a circle? Use a projector? Looking for any suggestions, thanks!
