I am so impressed with how often a customer will come into the store, and when I let them know to ask if they have any questions, they immediately say, "Oh, I've already read all about your store on the website and the blog!" So in the hopes of fusing this high level of readership with all the questions that must still remain (as the other half of the responses are along the lines of, "I do have a question...how does this work?!"), I'd like to point everyone's attention to the new FAQ that is now up on the website.
These are questions that come up probably on a near-daily basis so even if you haven't asked them, chances are you've probably been wondering about some of them yourself, so take the time to indulge...and of course this page will be updated as new intricacies of yarn-making, and their respective questions, arise!

Gift Certificates Now Available
Know a yarn-lover with an upcoming birthday? Yarnia is now offering gift certificates, available in any denomination you'd like. Yarn always makes a great gift for a fiber artist, and this way you can let them custom design their own, to fit whatever project they have in mind.
Come into the shop to pick one up for your yarn-loving friends. Or, if you don't live nearby, just give us a call during our open hours (Tues-Fri 11am-6pm; Sat 10am-6pm) and we can we can place your order over the phone.
***Reminder: April 7 Beginner Knitting Class***
Just a reminder that Yarnia will be holding a class for beginner knitters (as in, maybe you've never even picked up a pair of needles before!). There are still 4 spots left so hurry to get your name down on the list if you're thinking about it!
A customer yesterday brought it to my attention that there was a typo in the store phone number that went out in the recent newsletter about this class. To clarify, you can call the store at 503.488.0022 to sign yourself up, come in in person, or even send an email to info@yarniapdx.com and we'll get you down.

Bike Debacles, Knitting 101, and New Arrivals
First of all, my apologies to anyone who stopped by the store this morning (Tuesday) at 11 and found it closed--I got a bike flat on the way over and although the guys over at the Bike Gallery got it fixed up for me pretty quick, I got in a little late. But...on to the good news!
Secondly, registration is now open for Yarnia's first knitting class, to be held on Monday, April 7, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. In this class, students will learn the basic skills they need to get started. For all the details, check out www.yarniapdx.com/classes.html.
If you'd like to register, just stop in or call the store at 503-488-0022. Class size is limited to 6, so sign up early!
Additionally, please don't hesitate to send in suggestions for future classes. Is there a new type of project or technique you've been dying to learn? There are probably others with the same hankering so let us know and we'll try to plan a class around it.
In other news, 5 more colors of bamboo have come in! You may have noticed that we're slowly building up our stock of this wonderful fiber (and the variegated colorways have been been a big hit, so more of all of those are on the way) whose lightweight feel is perfect for spring and summer projects--even adding a single strand of this to your combination will soften up the feel unbelievably.

Additionally, six new colors of our wool/nylon blend are in, all in beautiful, earthy tones.

And yes--in answer to a reader's question and many customers' requests--some superwash wool has just come in this week.

Not too many colors yet but some beautiful heathered and tweed grey that would mix wonderfully with cotton and/or acrylic if you're looking for a more colorful, machine-washable project.

This wool/nylon fiber blend is perfect for socks, with the softness of merino and the strength of its nylon content, and combining four or five strands together makes the perfect sock weight yarn (2,250 to 1,800 YPP).

Shelves!
So new shelves have finally arrived and a late Monday night was spent getting them all assembled...but they've now replaced the small shelf that used to be along this wall:

And you know what more shelves means...more yarn! Rayon boucles, bamboo, silk blends (arriving later this week), and even more colors of the wool and cotton sections than you might have seen when we first opened...
As the weather gets warmer, we'll be getting in a selection of linen fibers as well as more bamboo colors, to get ready for lightweight spring and summer projects, so stay tuned!
