Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign

So if you happen to be driving westbound down Division Street, you might catch a glimpse of this:
Up close, it looks like this (and lit up at night!)

...And you'll know you're in the right place when you see this:

That's right...and my days have been spent over at the store--working in the back office while I wind the 300 pounds of yarn that I've amassed for opening weekend! The last few days though I've been tapering off of the transcription and doing more prepwork.

This is how my mornings begin:

Then staining and varnishing....(the creel that the input fibers wind off of; and a cool spool display where I'm going to put the pre-made yarn!)

And yesterday Jason dropped off my handmade shelves--custom bulit to hold 7" tall cones of yarn! Of course, this week it drops below freezing for the first time all year, while I have the door wide open for ventilation while I'm varnishing them. These were a store housewarming present from my Dad...

And this was a store housewarming present from my mom. If you're going to be buying yarn by the pound you've got to have a good scale!

Moving in!

My makeshift office on day one...

And then my real office later that week!

This might not look like a lot of yarn, but just you wait...I have about 150 pounds to wind onto one-pounders in the next couple weeks.

Transporting the beast of a machine:

And now it's in its new home...and not moving anytime soon!

And on its way to being completed (minus the border)...the knitted Yarnia sign! Since I'm going to be getting a fabulous handmade framed sign to hang in the window from one of my many creative and talented friends, I think this will make a nice wallhanging...

Has A Good Home

Yes, that's right--Yarnia now has a home! Lease signed, electricity turned on, and now in the process of being furnished and filled with all sorts of fun yarn displays; this cute little storefront is nestled into a corner of the Southeast, at the junction of 42nd and Division (right next to Kalga Kafe; and practically door-to-door service with both the #4 and #75 buses!).

Just pictures for now as I take this month to get everything up and running, but here I proudly present the before...

And after (well, almost-after...the painting's only halfway done here but the floors are in and now you can at least see the depth of the main room!)...

Stay tuned...the Grand Opening is scheduled for February 1st and lots more will be happening between now and then!
