Secondly, registration is now open for Yarnia's first knitting class, to be held on Monday, April 7, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. In this class, students will learn the basic skills they need to get started. For all the details, check out www.yarniapdx.com/classes.html.
If you'd like to register, just stop in or call the store at 503-488-0022. Class size is limited to 6, so sign up early!
Additionally, please don't hesitate to send in suggestions for future classes. Is there a new type of project or technique you've been dying to learn? There are probably others with the same hankering so let us know and we'll try to plan a class around it.
In other news, 5 more colors of bamboo have come in! You may have noticed that we're slowly building up our stock of this wonderful fiber (and the variegated colorways have been been a big hit, so more of all of those are on the way) whose lightweight feel is perfect for spring and summer projects--even adding a single strand of this to your combination will soften up the feel unbelievably.
Additionally, six new colors of our wool/nylon blend are in, all in beautiful, earthy tones.
This wool/nylon fiber blend is perfect for socks, with the softness of merino and the strength of its nylon content, and combining four or five strands together makes the perfect sock weight yarn (2,250 to 1,800 YPP).
And yes--in answer to a reader's question and many customers' requests--some superwash wool has just come in this week.
Not too many colors yet but some beautiful heathered and tweed grey that would mix wonderfully with cotton and/or acrylic if you're looking for a more colorful, machine-washable project.

This is such a GREAT idea for a yarn shop!!! Wow!
It's too bad (for me) that you aren't more local. Have you ever thought of a franchise operation, perhaps here in Los Angeles? ;-)
Loving your shop from afar,

Hello, I love this concept and I am happy for you new venture. I live in WA state and do wished I lived closer. I used to live in Portland years ago and loved it. I used to make trips back to Portland just to spend a day at Powell's Books. I do not get out at often now due to health reasons and mainly shop online. I recently bought a washer/dryer and dishwaser online. What a breeze. Would you consider selling yarn via mail. I have a spinning wheel and already buy buy cashmere and silk by the cone from the UK and twist up my own yarns. I would be interested in the fibers like bamboo, soy and of course sock type yarns. I understand that you may not be set up for mail orders since you have your hands full with this new business. But maybe in the future? I added your blog to my site. Take care, Joanne
